Chapter 3 Goals and Struggles part 1

Dear Journal, I am making a note of all the things that happened to me since I first arrived in a new world. I made lots of new friends and just trying to settle in the best that I can.

It has been 4 months since I first came to Equestria as this is the name of this world. I am staying in Ponyville with my new friend Ditzy Doo. During the first month here I had been introduced to all of Ditzy's friends. First there is Fluttershy, a kind and caring mare that has over a dozen animals that she takes care of in her house. Next is Pinkie Pie, the Crazy but lovable Mare that loves to meet new ponies and throw parties for them and her friends.

Next there is Applejack, A tough mare that isn't afraid of getting her hooves dirty. She works on a farm called Sweet Apple Acres with her big brother Big Mac, her grandmother Granny Smith and her little sister Apple Bloom. Now there is Rainbow Dash, The self proclaimed fastest Pegasus in all of Ponyville. She has a dream of becoming one of the Wonderbolts. (Whoever those are)

Then there is Rarity, The most lady like pony I've seen yet. She is a fashion designer and she lives and works at a place called The Carousel Boutique with her sister Sweetie Belle. A few of the filly's I met were Scootaloo, Sweetie Belle and Apple Bloom are part of a group called the Cutie Mark Crusaders. Their goal is to find what each of their special talents are. From what I've heard they do almost everything they can think of to see if that gets them their cutie marks.

Lastly there is Twilight Sparkle and Spike. Twilight is a unicorn from a place called Canterlot where she is a private student to Princess Celestia herself. Spike is a dragon who was born from an egg that Twilight hatched as a test of her magical abilities. His origin is unknown to him and he seeks to find out. Me and him have something in common. That is all I have to say for now. I'll make a update when something new happens to me.

Ryu closed his journal and put it on the nightstand next to his bed. A few things had been going around in his head but the most important one of them all is that he need to get a job to help support Ditzy. He had thought long and hard about what jobs there could be for him then he looked at his cutie mark and decided that he will become a guard for Princess Celestia and Princess Luna.

"10 more minutes until Ditzy comes home. I wonder how she will react to my job choice." said Ryu.

-10 minutes later-

Ditzy had came in the door and put her mailbag near the door and sat down on the couch after a hard day of work.

"Wow... today was a long day of work. So many packages and letters." said Ditzy.

"Hello Ditzy, hard day of work as usual?" said Ryu coming out of his room.

"Hey Ryu, yeah it was hard work today. There were about 10 packages and 20 letters to deliver today. I never had that much mail to deliver in a while." she said.

"Yeah. Well I am glad you are home cuz I have something to tell you." he said,

"What is it?" she said as she sits down.

"I have decided to get a job. To help you out." he stated to Ditzy.

"Ryu you don't have to do that. I am fine working on my own." she replied.

"No. It's not fair that you have to work while I stay at home all day. I want to be able to repay you for all that you've done for me." he said.

"Alright I understand. So what job are you thinking of taking?" commented Ditzy.

"I am going to apply to be a Castle guard in Canterlot." said Ryu

"But why a guard in Canterlot?" questioned Ditzy.

"Well I have to figure out what my cutie mark means plus I need to learn different types of spells, become a stronger pony and to be able to protect my friends. You most of all." Ryu said plainly.

"B...but I heard that training to be a castle guard is very tough and taxing on the body and mind." said Ditzy in a concerned manner.

"I can handle it. I am tougher then I look." replied back.

"Well I can see that you are dead set on becoming a castle guard. So I will support you in your choice." said Ditzy.

"Thank you Ditzy. Thank you for supporting me." he said as he went over to Ditzy and hugged her.

"So how are going to get accepted into the guard training program?" asked Ditzy.

"Well I could ask Twilight if she could ask the Princess to accept me in." said Ryu.

"It's worth a shot. Tomorrow is my day off so let's go ask Twilight together." replied Ditzy.

"Okie dokie lokie." said Ryu.

"You have been hanging around Pinkie Pie too much. Hahahaha." she said.

"Hahahaha I guess so." said Ryu.

So the two of them decided to pay Twilight a visit the next morning. They had their dinner of some salad and a daisy sandwich. After that they had made some small talk and went to bed shortly after.

-That night-

Ryu was tossing and turning in his bed. He was having a horrible nightmare about his past. He'd seen this girl who had called out his name and as he ran towards her some kind of monster snatched her up and was flying away.

"Ryu!!! Save me!!!" she screamed to him. "Don't let this monster take me away!!!"

"Noooo!!!! Put her down!!! I'll come and save you! I promise!!! " shouted Ryu.

He woke up in a cold sweat and had a pale look on his face. He looked around him to find that he was still in the guest room at Ditzy's place.

"Man.. it was just a dream... But it felt so real..." He said as he thought to himself for a few minutes until he went back to sleep.

-The next morning-

Ryu had woken up tired. Barely getting any sleep at all cuz of the nightmares. He rubbed his face and went to the kitchen to make breakfast. Ditzy woke up a few minutes later to the smell of fresh breakfast.

"Morning Ryu, This is a surprise you making breakfast." she said while yawning.

"Well I thought since you make breakfast most day I thought it would be nice for me to make breakfast this time. Plus I didn't get much sleep last night." he replied back.

"Why is that? Did you have a nightmare?" she said in a concerned manner.

"Yeah. It was a real frightening one." he said as he place her breakfast in front of her.

"Tell me about it. Maybe I can help" she said as she was eating her toast.

"Well I was in a dark area of some sorts when a friend from my past was in front of me. As I walked towards her a giant demon or monster appeared behind her and snatched her up. It was so awful." he said as he rubs his head.

"Wow. Sounds like a horrible nightmare.." she said as she gets up and pats his shoulder. "Well we can try to figure it what it mean's later. We need to get to Twilight place remember?"

"Oh yeah. Your right." he said as he quickly finishes he food and juice. "Alright lets go."

Both Ditzy and Ryu went to Twilight's place to ask her for a favor. All the while the nightmare was still fresh in Ryu's mind. He kept thinking about it on the way there until he decided to put it in the back of his mind for later.

"I hope she is home." he said as he knocks on the door. "Twilight... Twilight are you there?" said Ryu.

"Yeah I'm here. Come on in the door is open." replied Twilight

The both of them walked inside her house and they both saw a number of books flying past them and being put on the shelves.

"Hey there Twilight. What are you doing?" said Ditzy.

"Oh hello you two. Just organizing some books. So what brings you here today?" said Twilight.

"Well you see. Here's why we are here." said Ryu.

He had told Twilight the reason they were there. She thought about it for a while until she said.

"I don't know Ryu. I may be Princess Celestia's student but I don't know if I can make a request like that." answered Twilight

"Can you at least try Twilight? The worst that could happen is she says no." replied Ryu.

"Ok I'll try." she said as she writes a letter to the Princess* "Spike can you send this to the Princess?"

"No problem Twilight." Replied Spike as he breaths his dragon fire and the letter gets sent to the Princess.

"Now what?" he said as he moved around the Library.

"Now we wait until the Princess-" She was cut short when a reply came back quickly.

A letter pop out of Spike's mouth and he hands it's to Twilight.

"That was fast. Didn't think she would reply so fast" she said as she reads the letter.

"Dear Twilight Sparkle, I have read your request and I am accepting it on such short notice-" she got cut off by Ryu hearing the good news.

"Yes!" he shouted as he bounces up and down and hugs both Twilight and Ditzy* "I am so happy."

"Wait there's more." she said as she continues to read the letter.

"On the condition that Ryu Seron comes to see me in Canterlot as soon as possible. Your truly, Princess Celestia." Finished Twilight.

"I wonder what she wants to see Ryu for?" said Ditzy.

"Not a clue but the letter also says that you maybe bring 1 friend to come along with you to the palace." stated Twilight.

"I see. Well Ditzy do you want to come along with me?" asked Ryu.

"Y....you want me to come along with you to the palace? " questioned Ditzy.

"Yeah. You are my friend plus you have said that you always wanted to see the inside of the palace," said Ryu.

"W...well that is true.... Ok! I'll come with you." she said as she smiles and hugs Ryu. "Thank you so much Ryu."

"No problem. So when do we want to leave?" said Ryu as he hugged Ditzy back.

"Let's leave right now." said Ditzy.

"N..now? Ok." replied Ryu.

"You better hurry the train leaving for Canterlot departs in 5 minutes." stated Twilight

"!! Five minutes! Alright then let's go!" he said as he grabs Ditzy and runs out the door. "Thanks for the help Twilight."

"No problem. You'll need this." she hands Ryu the letter.

"Thanks you Twilight for the help." said Ryu.

"Your welcome. Tell me how it went ok?" replied Twilight.

"I will, I promise!" he yelled off in the distance.

The two of them were running at full speed to get to the train in time. With a minute to spare they got on the train and were to off to Canterlot.

"I can't believe... we made it." he pants due to being out of breath.

"Same ..here." she pants as well.

"Well.. I wonder what this Princess Celestia is like?" he said.

"The Princess is a wonderful pony. She's kind, sweet and cares for everyone of us." she replied.

"Wow she sounds like a pony you must at least meet once in your life." he said.

"Yeah she is. She also has a sister named Princess Luna." she said.

"I see. Well I hope I get to meet her as well." he said.

After an hour train ride they got off at the station and were finally in Canterlot.

"So this is Canterlot... Fancy." said Ryu.

"Yeah. Now let's go to the palace," said Ditzy.

The both of them walked through the town searching a way to the palace. After a bit they came across the entrance to the palace gates.

"There is it. The Canterlot Palace. Let's go." he said as they walk up to the gates where two palace guards stopped them both in there tracks.

"Halt, No pony is allowed on the castle without permission." said one royal guard.

"We got our permission here." she gives the second guard the letter.

"Let me see that." he said as he looks over the letter for a minute. "Alright everything seems to be in order. You may pass but be on your best behavior is that clear?"

"Yes sir!". The both of them replied as they walked through the gates and proceeded into the palace.

They were in awe of how big it was. Everywhere they looked you see hallways, rooms, rooms and more rooms. It boggled they minds but they focused again and proceeded to the throne room.

"I'm... getting kind of nervous.." stated Ryu.

"Same here. I've never been in the palace before." said Ditzy,

"No reason to be nervous you two." said a voice from no where.

Both of them were startled and looked around the room to see who it was when it was no other then Princess Luna herself

"P..Princess Luna!?" she said as she bows to her

"P..Princess!?" said Ryu as he bows as well.

"Raise your heads you two." said Luna.

They did as she asked them to. Their eyes gazed on the regal figure of Princess Luna.

"S...so may I ask w...where Princess Celestia is? I.. I am here about the letter she sent Twilight." said Ryu nervously

"Ah the letter. Truth be told I was the one who replied back to Twilight Sparkle. My sister did read the letter but I wanted the chance to meet you face to face. Are you disappointed?" asked Luna.

"N...not at all Princess Luna. I.. I was just not expecting you is all. O..oh I'm sorry. I forgot to introduce myself. My name is Ryu Seron." stated Ryu.

"A...and I'm D...Ditzy Doo." she said still being a little bit nervous.

"It's nice to meet you both". she said as she looks at Ditzy. "Ditzy Doo."

"!! Y..yes Princess Luna?!" she said nervously.

"Calm down alright. There is no need to be so nervous Also just call me Luna ok. It's just us here." stated Luna,

"O..ok Prin- I mean Luna." said Ditzy.

"Thank you. Now Ryu Seron." said Luna.

"Y..yes Luna?" answered Ryu.

"I have accepted your request and we are going to begin your training soon however instead of you becoming a palace guard I want you to be my personal guard." said Luna.

"!!!!! A...a personal guard f..for you L..Luna... Might I ask why?" asked Ryu.

"For now let's just say I see great potential in you. Will you accept my offer?" asked Luna.

"Of course I will! Thank you very much Princess." said Ryu.

"You are welcome." she said with a little giggle at the end.

"I am so happy for you Ryu. You get to be Luna's personal guard." said Ditzy.

"Hold on. It's not certain that he will become my personal guard. If you can pass the training course then you will become my guard." stated Luna.

"I understand Luna... How long will the training course take anyway?"

"For most 3 months while the faster one's complete it in a month and a half." said Luna.

"T...that's a long time... But I am ready for it. When does my training begin?" asked Ryu.

"Your training begins tomorrow morning." said Luna.

"T...tomorrow morning!?" Both Ryu and Ditzy said together.

Luna nods her head.

"I.. I see." she said as she puts on a fake smile. "That's ok. It's for a good purpose."

"Y..yeah I guess." said Ryu.

"I will pick you up in the morning. Be ready." stated Luna.

"Ok. Let's go Ditzy:" said Ryu.

"A...alright then." said Ditzy in a sad tone.

The both of them walked out of the palace and back to the train station. On the way to the station and home Ditzy didn't say a word at all. I was wondering what's bothering her so when we got home I asked her what's wrong.

"Ditzy what's the matter?" asked Ryu.

"I...it's nothing just... I won't be able to see you for at least 3 months.. I understand it's for training in all but.." said Ditzy in a sad tone.

"I know how you feel Ditzy. It's gonna be hard to get use to the training and not seeing you in the morning but as long as your cheering me on I know I will get through this." said Ryu.

"Alright then. I'll be cheering you on." she walks up to him and hugs him. "Just make sure to come back in one piece ok?"

"I will. I promise." Said Ryu.

"Ok. Lets make a Pinkie promise." stated Ditzy.

"A Pinkie promise?" asked Ryu.

"Yeah. It's a super special promise that ponies make so that they can keep their promises that they make." she said as she smiles.

"Oh... ok, how does it go?" asked Ryu.

"Ok First you say "Cross my heart," at that point you cross your heart with one hoof. then next you say "Hope to fly," that's where you take two of your hooves and pretend to fly. The last part of it goes like this, "Stick a cupcake in my eye," where you take one hoof again and pretend to put a cupcake in your eye and that is how the whole thing goes. You think you got it?" explained Ditzy.

"I am pretty sure." said Ryu

"Ok lets try it out." stated Ditzy.

"Ok "Cross my heart, hope to fly, stick a cupcake in my eye." they said the words while doing the motions.

"There, now both of us made a promise to each other." said Ditzy.

"And I will make sure to keep that promise." said Ryu.

"FOREVER!" said Pinkie at the window.

The both of them were startled by Pinkie Pie's sudden appearance, Wondering what is she doing here and how did she hear the two of them make a Pinkie Promise?

"P....Pinkie Pie what are you doing here?" Ditzy asked.

"I'm trying to find my tennis ball. I was playing against Gummy and he spiked it far away. *looks at the ground* There is it~ *picks it up* Hope you two have a good rest of the day," she said as she walks off.

"Ok... That was weird... but anyway. I'll keep that promise." said Ryu.

"FOREVER!" she yells from far away.

They were shocked again by Pinkie Pie. How can she hear us from that far away. They thought to themselves for a bit until they decided to forget about it.

" .... Ok then." they both said as the both of them sits down on the couch.

"Anyway I will be cheering you on Ryu." she said while both smiling and blushing.

"T..thanks Ditzy... You are so kind to me even though you don't know me that well." he said as he blushes as well.

"W..well you're one of the first ponies to help me out. I mean sure my friends would have done that same thing but the way you helped me out was so moving." blushes at what she said.

"Well I couldn't stand by while my best friend was being bullied by three jerks like that. I don't remember much about my past but one thing is for certain. I won't let the one's that I care for be made fun of, picked on, or be treated like they are nothing." stated Ryu.

"Oh Ryu... that was so thoughtful of you to say." she said smiling at his statement.

"It's nothing Ditzy Doo". he said as he smiles back.

The both of them look into each others eyes for a good while, thoughts racing through each others heads until they held onto one another and kiss each other lightly on the lips. They hold that kiss for about a few seconds or so until they got embarrassed and pulled apart from each other.

The both of them move apart from each other, their faces are completely red.

"S...sorry bout that Ryu. I.. I don't know what came over me." said Ditzy nervously

"Y..yeah same here." he said as he looks at the clock. "W....well it's getting late. I think I'm gonna go to sleep early."

"M..me too. Good night Ryu.." said Ditzy.

"Night Ditzy." said Ryu.

The both of them closes their doors, got in their beds and went to sleep.
